NEW YORK (CBS) Samantha Ronson says she is sorry after her bulldog reportedly attacked and killed a neighbor's 3-pound Maltese.

There is now a criminal investigation underway to determine 2-year-old Maltese's  cause of death.

"I feel incredibly sad and wish I could offer more than condolences," Ronson, who once dated actress  Lindsay Lohan, wrote on her Twitter page. "Unfortunately there are no words to describe how sorry I am. There is absolutely nothing I can say that will alter one minute of today, nothing."

On Monday, authorities received a 911 call from a person who claims a woman and a small dog had been attacked by a "pit bull," according to TMZ.

The attacked dog was soon after identified as Tiger  and police were told its attacker was a bulldog named Cadillac whose given address matched Ronson's.

Michelle Roache, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care & Control told People magazine that "the incident is still an allegation until such a time that a witness provides evidence to support the allegation."
