On the heels of canceling some gigs because of vocal cord issues, British crooner Sam Smith reveals that he needs surgery.

"Bad news. I have my operation booked for next week, so getting really nervous. But by doing this in 8 weeks time I'm gonna be able to sing like never before so it's worth it. I am so sorry to all," he wrote on Instagram.

The singer has to pull out of Australian tour after being diagnosed with "a small hemorrhage on my vocal cords."

The Grammy winner scrapped sold-out gigs in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth, as well as a scheduled appearance at the TV industry's annual Logie Awards. He's planning to reschedule the shows for December.
