NEW YORK (CBS/AP) Facebook drama "The Social Network" walked away empty handed at Sunday night's Screen Actor's Guild Awards.

The film was nominated for two awards - Jesse Eisenberg for best actor and the entire ensemble for best cast performance - but didn't win either.

In both categories, the film lost to its awards-show rival, British monarchy drama "The King's Speech." Colin Firth beat out Eisenberg for the lead-acting honor, while the cast (featuring Geoffrey Rush and Helena Bonham Carter) won the night's top prize.

Firth's win secures his status as the frontrunner for the best actor category at next month's Oscars, but the two films are still in a tight race for the Academy's Best Picture award.

The SAGs has a spotty record at predicting the top Oscar winner. The recipient of the guild's cast award has gone on to claim best-picture at the Academy Awards only seven of 15 years since SAG added that prize. Last year's guild cast recipient, "Inglourious Basterds," lost out to "The Hurt Locker" in the Oscar best-picture race.
