(CBS) Russell Brand was deported from Japan over the weekend, after the comedian flew in to see wife Katy Perry perform.

The British actor-comedian was reportedly kicked out of the country because of prior legal problems there.

"So ... my husband just got deported from Japan. I am so. sad. I brought him all this way to show him my favorite place #tokyodreamscrushed," Perry tweeted.

The singer, 26, said he was deported because of "priors from over 10 years ago."

But, she added, "of COURSE I [love] my Japanese fans & the show #MUSTGOONno matter the daily aftershocks or husband kidnappings! "

Meanwhile, Brand, 35, made light of the situation on Twitter.

"Planning escape from Japanese custody. It's bloody hard to dig a tunnel with a chopstick," he wrote, posting a photo of himself in a white room.

He added, "Stockholm syndrome kicking in. Just asked my guard out for (vegetarian) sushi. He giggled."

Later, Brand posted another photo, this one of his chopstick-aided "escape," with the message: "Alcatraz! Shawshank Redemption! And now this! Ah, sweet blue bird of freedom!"

Perry performed on Sunday in Nagoya, and is scheduled for concerts in Tokyo on Monday and Tuesday, and Osaka on Thursday. She'll then head back to the U.S., according to People, for more tour dates in June.
