NEW YORK (CBS) "Running Wilde," one of the most anticipated new comedies of the fall season, made its television debut on Tuesday night.

The series is the brainchild of Will Arnett, Mitch Hurowitz and Jim Vallely, all of "Arrested Development" fame. But critics aren't necessarily going wild over the new Fox comedy.

In "Running Wilde," Arnett plays billionaire Steve Wilde, heir to an oil empire. He's got everything he wants, except happiness and the one that got away, his first love Emmy (Keri Russell). Not even the humanitarian award he gives himself makes him feel better about life.

"Running Wilde" has failed to impress critics, who have called the series "limp" and "disappointing," weighed down by its set-up and exposition. Also, the series has been reportedly plagued by re-shoots, re-castings and constant storyline shifts.

Hopefully, this romantic comedy will shape up for the better in following episodes.
