Rudy Gets Red Light At Daytona
DAYTONA, FLA. -- You can't always get what you want, even if you're America's mayor.
Rudy Giuliani ran an unscheduled lap in his campaign bus at the Daytona International Speedway yesterday, but that was as far as the road went.
After chatting up drivers and mechanics in the pit area of the empty speedway, Giuliani said he was promised he could go for a ride in a racecar, but was told he did not have the proper license.
Asking if he could drive one of the pace cars, Giuliani's request was again declined because the track was about to go "hot," meaning other cars would be using the raceway.
"We're all just little boys, don't you know that?" asked Giuliani, who asked a female driver if she would go for a ride with him.
"Come on...one ride," pleaded Giuliani, who seemed to amuse himself by playing up a pouting politician.
"They won't let me drive a car!" he said, returning to his campaign bus. "I'm a good driver!"
