Royals party with artists at Princess Grace Awards

Monaco's Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene handed out 25 different awards Monday night at the 30th anniversary gala of the Princess Grace Foundation, named for the prince's late mother, American film actress Grace Kelly.

The foundation recognizes and supports emerging talent in theater, film and dance. The prince is its vice president. He and his wife of one year hosted the event at Cipriani's 42nd Street in New York.

The princess was dressed in an ivory satin halterneck gown, with her blonde hair pulled back.

Among the honorees was Broadway actor to Patrick Page and sound designer Darron L West. A special honor went to socialite Lynn Wyatt, who helped to establish the foundation after the death of her friend and frequent house guest, Princess Grace. TV journalist Paula Zahn served as emcee.

The evening was chaired by Renee Fleming, Tim Jessell and H.R.H. Princess Firyal of Jordan. Sponsors were Hermes and Lily Safra.

Since its founding, the organization has presented 750 awards, totaling almost $10 million, to nearly 600 young artists.
