Romney Will Skip Most Of Super Bowl

MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. -- As the New England Patriots aim to complete an historic undefeated season tonight, Barack Obama plans to watch the big game at home in Chicago. Hillary Clinton will take it in with supporters and press at a sports bar in Minnesota.
And where will Mitt Romney, the former governor and longtime resident of Massachusetts, be for the majority of the game?
On a plane to Tennessee.
"We are in four states today, but we'll still find time to watch parts of the game," Romney's press secretary Eric Fehrnstrom told CBS News. "We're going to have a kick-off party in St. Louis and watch the first quarter, and then head to Nashville where we'll catch the end of the game."
But Romney's kickoff party will be just that. Kickoff is set for 5:17 p.m. Central Time, and the governor's appearance at the "party" is scheduled to end at 5:30 p.m. He then will hold a press conference and board a plane to Nashville. If the plane is on time, Romney will be able to catch the final minutes of the game at the airport.
In fairness to the governor, Romney lost precious campaigning time when he attended the funeral of Mormon President Gordon B. Hinckley yesterday in Salt Lake City. And Mike Huckabee is forgoing Brady and Belichick in favor of The Big Guy in the sky—he's going to church.
But there won't be any team from Arkansas taking the field in Arizona tonight.
Speaking of Arizona, John McCain does plan to watch the game tonight, but the senator will be in Romney's home state, rather than his own. That's right—McCain will watch Romney's Patriots from Boston.
Ouch.
