Romney raises $11.5 million in February
(CBS News) - Mitt Romney raised $11.5 million in February, his campaign announced on Wednesday.
Spokeswoman Andrea Saul said the haul was Romney's second-highest fundraising month to date, his best being December 2011 when he took in almost $12 million. He raised more than $6.5 million in January.
Romney's schedule had been heavy on private fundraising events leading up to the December milestone. But campaign officials said he has attended fewer fundraisers in person in the past month due to his heavy campaign schedule in the run-up to Super Tuesday.
In the last two primary night victory speeches he gave - Tuesday night in Boston and last week in Royal Oaks, Mich. -- Romney asked supporters for donations on his website.
Romney's chief rival Rick Santorum has reported raising $9 million in February.
