"Rock of Ages" releases first trailer

(CBS) A trailer for "Rock of Ages" has hit the web, and it's a mix of A-list stars and '80s tunes.

The movie, an adaptation of the Broadway musical by the same name, features an ensemble cast that includes Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Russell Brand, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mary J. Blige, Paul Giamatti and Julianne Hough.

Directed by Adam Shankman (who also helmed the recent remake of "Hairspray"), the film is set in 1987 and follows a small town girl (Hough) and a young man (Diego Boneta) who move to Los Angeles to pursue their dreams.

Cruise plays tattooed rock star Stacee Jaxx, Baldwin plays nightclub owner Dennis Dupree and Zeta-Jones plays a religious woman trying to get the club shut down.

The trailer also shows off the film's cadre of classic rock songs, including Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It," Starship's "We Built This City" and Journey's "Any Way You Want It."

"Rock of Ages" is scheduled to hit theaters on June 1, 2012.
