Robots Bring School To Sick Kids

It's inevitable that kids are going to miss a few days of school because they're sick. But when students are out for an extended period, it can become a problem.

Now, reports Melinda Murphy on The Early Show, futuristic, two-way robots are giving some hospitalized youngsters a front-row "seat" in the classroom and enabling them to keep up with the work they'd otherwise miss.

The system is called PEBBLES, which stands for Providing Education By Bringing Learning Environments to Students.

Right now, Murphy says, it's being used in seven schools districts, but supporters say it could well become more widely available.
