(CBS News) Rob Lowe has been cast to portray a lawyer in a new Lifetime movie about the Casey Anthony trial.

The "Parks and Recreation" star will play Jeff Ashton, the Florida prosecutor in the Caylee Anthony murder trial that captivated the nation. The movie, tentatively titled "Prosecuting Casey Anthony," is based on Ashton's book, "Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony."

Last year, Anthony was acquitted of murdering her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, in 2008.

According to Lifetime, the movie will be told from Ashton's perspective, going behind the scenes of both the investigation and the trial.

This isn't Lowe's first brush with the Lifetime network. The 48-year-old actor also played the title role in Lifetime's "Drew Peterson: Untouchable."
