The crowd at the NRCC/NRSC party had begun to thin out by the time John McCain gave his concession speech. The Republicans who remained wore glum faces as their candidate congratulated Barack Obama. A young Treasury staffer uttered an expletive at the first mention of Obama’s name, only to be shushed by an older gentleman. Another man shook his head angrily as he walked by this reporter, muttering, “media f---ing media.”
