Report: Fla. drummer's phone was mid-call during shooting

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. -- Florida drummer Corey Jones had called AT&T roadside assistance minutes before he was shot and killed on Oct. 18 by a Palm Beach Gardens police officer, and the phone call ended well after the incident, according to a report in The Palm Beach Post.

The newspaper obtained phone records that show that at 3:10 a.m., Jones called #HELP, AT&T's help request line on which calls are typically recorded, to request assistance. About five minutes later, Jones, 31, was shot and killed by officer Nouman Raja.

But the phone call lasted 53 minutes, according to the paper. It's not clear if AT&T has a recording of Jones' call, or if police have approached the company for information about the call.

Details of exactly what happened have not been released by police. Raja's van didn't have a dashboard camera and the department's officers do not wear body cameras. The shooting is under investigation by local and federal authorities.
