(CBS) - A man who allegedly shot and killed his wife and then himself Friday in the couple's New Caanan, Conn., condo was reportedly an ex-Wall Street banker who had worked at Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers, reports the New York Observer.

According to the New Caanan Daily Voice newspaper, James Owen, 48, fatally shot Billie D. Faigout-Owen, 52, and then himself on Friday. Police responded to reports of gunshots at 2:40 p.m. and both bodies were taken outside to a van headed to the medical examiner's office around 7 p.m., reports the paper.

According to a search of the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority website, Owen was registered as a broker with Lehman Brothers from 1997-2000 and with Bear Stearns from 1996-1997. Both firms collapsed during the financial crisis in 2008. Owen's most recent registration was with the Bank Street Group in Stamford, Conn.
