Report: Child welfare authorities investigating new claims against Penn State's Jerry Sandusky

(CBS) STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Pennsylvania child welfare authorities have opened two new investigations into alleged sex abuse by former Penn State football coach Jerry Sandusky, reports the Patriot-News.

Sources told the paper that in the past 60 days, two people have reported sex abuse by Sandusky to the state's Children and Youth Services, which investigates claims of abuse involving victims currently under 18.

According to the paper, the eight victims whose allegations are detailed in a 23-page grand jury report levied their claims as adults, which is why their claims were investigated by law enforcement instead of child welfare authorities.

In response to the new allegations, Sandusky's lawyer, Joe Amendola, told CNN, "We expected copycat allegations ... and we are confident we will be able to refute them after we investigate the specific new allegations which are being made."
