Rep. Jeff Flake: Obama's role in budget negotiations "unfortunate"
With the federal government inching closer and closer to a shutdown, Rep. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) said President Obama's role in budget negotiations has been "unfortunate."
"I would have hoped to see the President lead on some of these things," Flake, who is known as a budget hawk, said in an interview with CBS News political analyst John Dickerson Wednesday.
Addressing the politics of the budget battle, Flake said the GOP-led House will "likely" pick up some Democrats' votes with its proposal.
"Some think a lot of Republicans are cheering for a shutdown- that's just not the case," Flake said. "We're just trying to get as many cuts as we can."
