Reid: Generals Want More Resources In Afghanistan
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) is back from an unannounced trip to Afghanistan. "We didn't announce the trip in advance and were told not to by the military because of security concerns," he said.
"The generals made it clear they needed more resources," said Reid, who met with Afghan leader Hamid Karzai. "We've been so focused on Iraq. ... Afghanistan has not received the attention and resources it needs."
He added that the general "were very guarded in saying what they needed [because] they know that's not the right chain of command. They're going to work through their superiors."
Reid, making his first trip to Afghanistan, is accompanied by Sens. Jeff Bingaman (D-N.M.), Johnny Isakson (R-Ga.) and Bill Nelson (D-Fla.).
