Regis Says He's Still In Pain
Regis Philbin called in to "Live With Regis and Kelly" today to report that he's through "the worst of it" more than a week after triple bypass heart surgery.
Philbin says he's still in pain around his heart, his back and his leg where doctors took some arteries for the bypass. He says it especially hurts when he sneezes.
Philbin says the painkillers have kept him up at night, so he's been taking sleeping pills, which have caused him to wander the house and say some strange things.
For instance, he says last night he yelled at his wife, "I haven't had sex in three-and-a-half months!"
Philbin's expected to be out for at least another month.
Philbin made the announcement on the talk show March 12 that he was having the surgery.
"Well, listen, I gotta tell you something. ... I had been feeling chest pains, you know, and, uh, shortness of breath and all those little symptoms that you hear about," Philbin, 75, told his TV audience. After a number of tests, doctors recommended bypass surgery.
