The longtime "Live" co-host, who turned 80 last month, made the announcement on Tuesday.

"Last January I made the announcement that I'll be moving on," he told viewers. "But I never gave you an exact date. So I'm pushing it back five years. Just kidding."

Tuesday marked the beginning of Philbin's final season, which he said would show his "favorite moments" from the past 28 years.

No one has yet been named to replace him. Philbin said co-host Kelly Ripa, who joined him on "Live" in 2001, will be trying out new co-hosts on the show.
