Read Your RSS Feeds Effectively

rss1.jpgNow that you've got an RSS reader (right?), you need to make sure that it doesn't become another email-esque albatross that you check way too often and spend way too much time going through. That doesn't necessarily mean, though, that you need to cut down on the number of feeds you subscribe to. Robert Scoble, for example, keeps up with more than 600 feeds without disrupting his day.

How does he do it? As Black Belt Productivity explains, he opens all the feeds at once and scans them for particular keywords or certain authors, only opening those posts that fit his criteria. Once the posts he wants to check out are open, he initially deals only with those that contain few outgoing links. The other more time-intensive ones are saved for later in the day.
