Rapper DMX freed from an Arizona prison after one serving week for failed drug test
(CBS/AP) PHOENIX, Ariz. - Rapper DMX was released Tuesday from an Arizona state prison after serving an extra week behind bars for failing a drug test while incarcerated.
Family members picked up the multi-platinum selling artist at the facility in Yuma, according to Arizona Department of Corrections spokesman Bill Lamoreaux.
DMX, real name Earl Simmons, was sentenced in December to a year in prison after his probation was revoked over his refusal to submit to drug testing, and for driving on a suspended license.
The 40-year-old Simmons was credited with 117 days he had already served.
