Quickly Switch Between Google and Bing Search Results
It's easy enough to switch search engines on the fly to compare the results for the same search term. You might have Google and Bing saved as favorites in your browser, or you might have multiple search providers identified in Internet Explorer, for example. But what if you want to see how Google and Bing compare without retyping a search term? Easy as pie.
Start by conducting a search using Bing.
Because Google and Bing a similar URL structure, all you need to do is to click in the address bar and replace "bing" with "google" and press Enter. You'll immediately get Google search results using the same term you had used in Bing, without retyping it.
In my experience, it doesn't work the other way -- if you start in Google, replacing the domain with "bing" will not produce search results.
And if you're curious, it almost works if you start in Bing and switch to Yahoo -- the search term ends up in Yahoo's search box, so you only have to press Enter to trigger the search. But that's just trivia; no one actually uses Yahoo, right? [via Digital Inspirations]
