Queen Elizabeth leaves hospital after stomach bug

(CBS News) England's Queen Elizabeth II has left King Edward VII Hospital on Monday after spending the night suffering from a stomach bug. She was seen walking out of the hospital toward a waiting limousine wearing a red coat and looking well rested.

The queen arrived at King Edward VII Hospital on Sunday afternoon from Windsor Castle. She arrived in a private car, not an ambulance, and was being treated for symptoms of gastroenteritis, essentially a bad stomach flu, CBS News' Clarissa Ward reported from London.

The queen will be turning 87 next month, and while the hospitalization was just a precaution, according to the palace, this is a rare episode for the queen. This is the first time in 10 years she has spent a night in the hospital.

The queen is a tireless worker, Ward noted, citing that last year she attended hundreds of engagements and celebrated her 60th year on the English throne.

Buckingham Palace earlier said all her appointments for the rest of the week had been canceled. It's unknown when the queen will resume her royal duties.
