President Obama's Schedule Today (10/9/09)
In the morning, President Obama and Vice President Biden will receive their daily briefings in the Oval Office. Then the president will make remarks in the Rose Garden on being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize.
Later, Mr. Obama will meet with senior advisers and then with Senator Jim Webb in the Oval Office. He will then have lunch with the vice president in the Private Dining Room.
In the afternoon, Mr. Obama will hold an event in the East Room where he will push for a new Consumer Financial Protection Agency and urge Congress to act quickly in passing a financial regulatory reform by the end of the year. Prior to the meeting, the president and Treasury Secretary Geithner will meet with five Americans who represent those who have been hurt by the rules regulating the financial sector.
Later, Mr. Obama will meet with his national security team on Afghanistan and Pakistan in the Situation Room. Expected attendees include:
