President Obama's Schedule Today (10/14/09)
In the morning, President Obama will receive the presidential daily briefing in the Oval Office. He will then meet with his national security team on Afghanistan and Pakistan in the Situation Room. Expected attendees to that meeting are below.
In the afternoon, Mr. Obama and Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood will head to northern Virginia to tour the Fairfax County Parkway Extension project. After the tour, the president will deliver remarks on the economic benefits of the stimulus act he signed in February.
Later, Mr. Obama will sign an Executive Order restoring the White House Advisory Commission and Interagency Working Group to address issues concerning the Asian American and Pacific Islander community. At the ceremony, the president will also observe Diwali, or the "Festival of Lights," a holiday celebrated across faiths.
In the evening, the president will deliver remarks at an event at the Ritz Carlton Hotel celebrating the Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate.
