President Obama's Schedule (8/4/10)

In the morning, President Obama will receive the Presidential Daily Briefing and meet with senior advisers in the Oval Office.

Later in the morning, Mr. Obama will deliver remarks to the AFL-CIO Executive Council Meeting at the Washington Convention Center. The president will discuss the steps we have taken to rebuild the economy and create jobs, and the fact that while we have a long way to go, we are headed in the right direction. Mr. Obama will continue to lay out the choice we face on the economy today: whether to move forward on new ways to create jobs and strengthen our recovery, or go back to the failed policies of the past that led to a decade of economic insecurity for the middle class, culminating in a recession that has cost 8 million jobs.

Later, the president will have lunch with Senators in the Roosevelt Room.

In the afternoon, Mr. Obama will deliver remarks and present the 2010 Citizens Medal to 13 winners from across the country at an event in the East Room. For 40 years, the Presidential Citizens Medal has recognized Americans who have "performed exemplary deeds of service for their country or their fellow citizens." This Medal is among the highest honors a president can bestow, and it stands as a token of gratitude to those who represent what is best about this nation.

Later, Mr. Obama will meet with Senator Mitch McConnell in the Oval Office.

Later in the afternoon, the president will travel to Chicago, Illinois where he will spend the night.
