Post: Insurgent Group Broke Truce
The Islamic Army of Iraq broke a truce that it had reached with another insurgent group called the Army of the Mujaheddin, according to a message posted by an active member of a jihadi Internet forum. The member, who identifies himself on the forum as Mohareb al Ansari, says the two groups had reached a truce agreement after conflicts between members of the group in several areas.
The writer claims that "all soldiers of the Islamic Army and its leaders" have become members of "awakening councils," which were formed by the residents of certain areas in Iraq to fight the insurgents. He claims the group is against killing U.S. soldiers. He goes talk about how the Islamic Army killed three members of the Army of the Mujaheddin. A few days later, the Army of the Mujaheddin killed the leader of the Taji awakening council. The Islamic Army in Iraq responded by shooting at the car used in the attack, killing one member of the group. Two others were interrogated before being killed.
The writer, who has over 1200 participations on the website, asks forum members to relay his message to the Army of the Mujaheddin and claims to have evidence to support his allegations.
The Islamic Army in Iraq is known to have had conflicts with al Qaeda in Iraq.
