Poll: Most expect Obama to reach out to GOP

Nearly two thirds of Americans - 65 percent - believe that President Obama will "make a sincere effort to work with the Republicans in Congress to find mutually acceptable solutions to the nation's problems," according to a poll from Gallup released today.

Fifty-seven percent of respondents said the same about congressional Democrats, while 48 percent voiced the same confidence in congressional Republicans.

A similar poll from Gallup in 2009, at the beginning of President Obama's first term, found even higher hopes for bipartisanship: 80 percent of respondents in that poll predicted that Mr. Obama would strive to be bipartisan, while 59 percent expected bipartisanship from congressional Democrats and 62 percent expected the same from congressional Republicans.
