Police: S.C. teen fatally stabs 17-year-old over Snapchat
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. -- A 16-year-old boy been charged with fatally stabbing a 17-year-old male in a dispute centered around the photo messaging service Snapchat, according to CBS affiliate WCSC.
Court documents stated that the teen suspect was visiting his girlfriend on Sunday in Mt. Pleasant, S.C., when he saw that she had received a Snapchat message from the other male on her iPod, according to the station. Using his girlfriend's iPod, he began messaging the 17-year-old, Lucas Cavanaugh, and eventually wrote "Come over" and "I'll kill you man," according to affidavits.
Other documents state that Cavanaugh arrived at the residence and the two males teens got into a fight, during which the suspect pulled out a knife from his pants pocket and stabbed Cavanaugh in the torso, investigators told the station.
Fleeing the scene in the car, the alleged attacker telephoned his mother, who picked him up and brought him back to the scene of the crime, according to documents.
Cavanaugh had died at the scene, according to the Charleston County Coroner's Office.
Police say the 16-year-old confessed to the stabbing on video and gave them a written confession.
Bond was denied Monday on the charge of murder, according to WCSC. In addition, the 16-year-old suspect was charged with possession of a knife during the commission of a violent crime.
