Sisters missing since visiting family in Michigan

ISHPEMING, Mich. - Police are seeing help from the public to find out what happened to two sisters in their 50s who apparently went missing while on a trip to sightsee and visit family in Michigan, reports CBS Detroit.

State police say Leslie Roy of Nebraska and Lee Marie Wright of Oklahoma were traveling through Michigan's Upper Peninsula. They were last reported seen April 10 in Ishpeming and they were scheduled to stay at a motel in Mackinaw City the next day but didn't arrive.

Family members told police the women talked about wanting to visit waterfalls or casinos. Police say they eventually were to travel to Kalamazoo in Michigan's Lower Peninsula, but they didn't arrive there either.

"The plan was to do a trip up to Michigan to see their sister, which they did and they had a good visit there," Michigan State Trooper Ryan Giroux told CBS Detroit. "Their itinerary was to leave Ishpeming and head for Mackinaw City for a couple days, and then travel from Mackinaw down to Kalamazoo to visit more family -- but they never arrived."

Police didn't release the women's hometowns. Investigators say they were traveling in a white Ford Explorer with a Nebraska license plate number of either TVC-973 or TTM-081.

"They do have cellphones but as far as we can tell, they are not currently working right now," Giroux said. "There's no evidence of foul play involved so right now, we're just treating this as a missing persons (case)."

Roy is described as a white female about 5'3″ tall and 125 pounds with brown hair and blue eyes.

Wright is described as a white female about 5'1″ tall and 135 pounds with dark brown hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information on the women's whereabouts is asked to contact the Michigan State Police at 906-475-9922.
