Police radio broadcasts Memphis cop Dion Anthony's alleged squad car sex

Dion Anthony Memphis Police Department

(CBS) - A Memphis police officer is under investigation after a microphone allegedly broadcast audio over police radio of him having sex in his squad car while on duty.

According to WHBQ, sources say Dion Anthony was recorded with an unknown female between 8:45 and 9 pm Monday night.

Memphis police said in a statement that an officer, who was reportedly relieved of duty March 13, had "inappropriate radio communication," but did not elaborate, reports WPTV.

"The allegations do surround inappropriate communications through either his handheld or console mic," Sgt. Karen Rudolph told WHBQ.

"Anytime you communicate via a handheld or console microphone you want to remain professional. Our job is to make sure all officers follow procedures. In this instance it's possible he didn't follow proper procedure," Rudolph told the station.

Police reportedly said the audio would be released at some point.
