Police: Philly father witnessed son's murder

PHILADELPHIA -- Police say a father watched as his son was shot in the face in a deadly shooting in northern Philadelphia, reports CBS Philly.

The incident occurred around 11 p.m. Sunday at Lawrence and Wingohocken Streets, according to the station. Police say the 21-year-old victim was shot in front of his father.

The father then chased after the shooter for one block.

"At that time, the shooter turned around and fired at least two shots at the father," Chief Inspector Scott Small told CBS Philly.

The gunman missed and fled south on Fourth Street in a dark-colored Toyota, he added.

The victim had been rushed to Temple University Hospital, where he died hours later.

Police were talking to the father and other witnesses, but they believe the 21-year-old victim had been the intended target.

Investigators were looking at surveillance video to help identify the gunman, reports the station.
