Police: No new leads on missing Orlando mother Michelle Parker
(CBS/WKMG/AP) ORLANDO, Fla. - Investigators and hundreds of volunteers continued searching Tuesday for an Orlando woman who went missing the same day her episode of "The People's Court" aired on television, even as police said they still consider this a missing person's case.
Police say Michelle Parker, 33, was last seen Thursday. Her Hummer SUV was found the next day, leading family members to believe she was carjacked.
At a news conference Tuesday, the Orlando Police Department announced they had no new leads in the search for Parker, reports CBS affiliate WKMG. Investigators said they have found some items, but they still cannot find Parker's cellphone.
Family members last heard from her on Thursday, when she sent a text message that indicated she was in an Orlando shopping area. They said it's unlike Parker to disappear because she has three children and a job as a bartender.
Parker's current boyfriend, Nathan Mitchell, said he talked to and texted Parker several times Thursday, the last time being at 3:15 p.m., reports WKMG.
Mitchell said when he texted her again later he got no response, reports WKMG.
Parker's mother, Yvonne Stewart, appeared on several national talk shows Tuesday morning to bring attention to the case.
"She texted me a song came on the radio and I was thinking about you, then I replied back with a smiley face and a heart," said Mitchell, according to the station.
She has said she believes her daughter may have been abducted or kidnapped and could still be alive.
"My daughter's life is so important to me, I love her with all my heart and soul. She would be here doing the exact same thing for me. I'm not stopping 'till we bring her home. I feel very close that within the next day, maybe even today, we're going to find a clue," Stewart said.
Meanwhile, Dustin Erickson, Parker's brother, said the TV show "The People's Court" was probably "irrelevant" to her disappearance as it was taped three months ago. Parker and her ex-boyfriend appeared on the show to resolve a dispute about a $5,000 engagement ring. Orlando police said Parker has a violent history with Smith but he has not been named a suspect.
Yvonne Stewart, told ABC News that her daughter said the show was "the most humiliating experience" of her life.
