Police: Mass. man set cruiser on fire, celebrated
SOUTHBRIDGE, Mass. -- Investigators say that a central Massachusetts man set fire to an unoccupied police cruiser and celebrated, before he was arrested, reports CBS Boston.
Forty-five-year-old Arthur Burnham allegedly went to the Southbridge police department's parking lot around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, dumped gasoline on the vehicle, and set it on fire.
"Burnham was witnessed to be committing the act and also seen cheering with his arms raised in air once the vehicle was engulfed in flames," police said in a statement on the department's Facebook page.
The suspect was taken into custody and charged with arson and malicious destruction of property, according to CBS Boston.
Police told the station that Burnham had 16 "interactions" with the department earlier this year, including one incident in which he entered the lobby and threatened the person behind the protective glass.
Burnham was reportedly held overnight on $5,000 cash bail and was to be arraigned Wednesday afternoon in Worcester District Court.
