Police: Man slammed boy, 8, for not cleaning room
PITTSBURGH - An 8-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries after his mother's fiancée allegedly slammed him on a bed Monday, reports CBS Pittsburgh.
Police say Orlando Williams, 28, woke the child up after tripping over a laundry basket in the boy's bedroom. He told the child to clean his room, but when he returned a few minutes later, the child had not yet begun, police said.
Williams allegedly told police he grabbed the child and slammed him on to the bed. He told police his intention was to slam the child onto the middle of the bed, but missed, sending the boy falling to the floor. The boy was brought unconscious to a nearby hospital, and then flown to the Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Doctors have since said that the injuries were consistent with severe trauma and the child's prognosis is grave.
Williams is facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault, endangering the welfare of a child and recklessly endangering another person.
