Police in Miami suburb find burglar hiding in ceiling

PINECREST, Fla. - Police in South Florida arrested alleged burglars Wednesday morning after a security company spotted one of the men on a live video feed, reports CBS Miami.

Police in Pinecrest. a Miami suburb, responded to a T-Mobile cell phone store within minutes and spotted the alleged getaway van leaving the scene. The driver was apprehended soon after.

As police searched the business under construction they say they found burglary tools, including power tools and a bag containing approximately 70 cell phones worth an estimated $28,000.

After a K9 unit was unable to find the other burglar, police thought he had gotten away, but Pinecrest police spokeswoman Michelle Hammontree said an officer decided to do one last search of the building.

"A tenacious officer came to the building and found him in the drop ceiling behind the air duct," said Hammontree.

Police have arrested 26-year-old Raiko Guerra Ramos and 27-year-old Maidel Aguirre Menendez. The men are charged with burglary and vandalism to a business.

Police have not said who was in the van, and who was in the ceiling.
