(CBS/AP) CANTON, Ga. - Police in Georgia have found the body of 7-year-old Jorelys Rivera, who went missing Friday evening from a playground near her apartment, reports CBS Atlanta.

Rivera's body was found in a dumpster approximately 100 yards away from where the child lived, at the River Ridge Apartment complex. Georgia Bureau of Investigation John Bankhead told the Associated Press that she appeared to have been severely beaten and sexually assaulted.

No suspects are in custody.

Rivera was last seen around 5 p.m. on Friday. According to CBS Atlanta, the girl's babysitter left her unsupervised.

At a news conference Monday morning, before the little girl's body had been found, Canton Police Emergency Management Director Jeff Hall said that Jorelys' parents had been cooperative and were not considered suspects.

Over the weekend, officers searched apartment buildings and nearby woods. They also began checking on sex offenders in the area, an effort that will continue as the investigation goes on, said Bankhead.

The AP reports that according to online state records, there are 73 registered sex offenders living in Canton.
