COQUILLE, Ore. (CBS/AP) Oregon police say Gabriel Morris shot his mother and her partner to death and has since taken his wife Jessica and their 4-year-old daughter Kalea on the run.

It's not clear if Jessica Morris is helping or hostage.

"She loves her husband. I know she does or she wouldn't be with him," Jessica Morris' mother Rita Pope told KIDK-TV in Idaho Falls, Idaho. "But I don't think she knows what he did. And our baby granddaughter is in the middle of it, and I'm afraid we won't see her again."

Gabriel Morris, who once worked as a sheriff's deputy in Idaho, was spotted Wednesday evening at a business in Mesa, Ariz., after police had tracked him to San Diego.

The district attorney said surveillance video showed the family in their silver Ford Taurus.

Because Morris was moving east, authorities said he may be headed to Louisiana or Florida, where he has family.

Coos County prosecutors have filed two counts of aggravated murder against Morris in the shooting deaths of his mother, Robin Lynn Anstey, 62, and her boyfriend, Robert William Kennelly Jr., 48, whose bodies were found last Wednesday at Kennelly's house near the town of Bandon, about three hours south of Eugene.

The Morrises reportedly lived there as well. The couple likely died the night of Feb. 8.

The World newspaper in Coos Bay reported the FBI has joined the case and a federal fugitive warrant has been issued for Morris.
