Police call off search in Detroit for missing 2-year-old Bianca Jones
(CBS/AP) DETROIT - Organized search efforts came to an end Sunday for missing two-year-old Detroit girl Bianca Jones, whose father claims she was taken in a carjacking more than a week ago.
According to police, about 138 volunteers searched on Sunday for Bianca. Over the course of seven days, about 1,100 volunteers have worked with city and state police, Detroit firefighters and the FBI to search abandoned houses, fields and alleys for any sign of the missing girl.
A lawyer for D'Andre Lane, Jones' father, says his client could not join in the search for the girl because he's gotten death threats from people who believe he had something to do with her disappearance, CBS Detroit reports.
Police have said they were looking into the truth behind Lane's story. The missing girl's father said he's "done nothing wrong" in the case.
No suspects have been identified related to the alleged carjacking.
Police may resume the volunteer search later and are asking for the public to remain alert.
