Police: Beer argument leads to hatchet attack

(CBS) MARATHON, Fla. - Police say an argument over beer escalated to one man attacking another with a hatchet.

CBS Miami reports that 32-year-old Maykel Borges was walking around the Trailerama Trailer Park Friday asking for beer. The residents of the park said they gave him several beers throughout the day but then told him to leave.

Borges left, but returned later with a hatchet. According to witnesses, he began arguing with people at the park and allegedly swung the hatchet at one man, cutting him on the side with it. Borges then dropped the weapon and ran.

Police arrived just after 6 p.m. They found the hatchet and were able to locate Borges at his own trailer nearby. Officers arrested Borges and charged him with aggravated assault and aggravated battery. He was booked into jail and his victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
