Pistol-packing police officer misfires into pack of bologna at Tenn. market
(CBS/AP) SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - Clearly they don't take any bologna at the sheriff's office of Sevier County, Tenn., when it comes to the proper handling of firearms.
After an officer accidentally discharged a weapon in a convenience store, and the bullet lodged in a package of frozen lunch meat, the officer was briefly suspended and had to take a weapons safety course.
Cpl. Chris Huskey was demonstrating a Glock pistol to Deputy Adam Bohanan at Dunn's Market on Nov. 23 when the weapon discharged, firing a bullet through a computer monitor and the wall of a walk-in freezer, where it got planted in a pack of bologna. No one else was in the store at the time and neither officer was hurt, according to The Mountain Press.
Huskey was suspended for 18 hours and had to take a firearms refresher course. He and Bohanan split the cost of replacing the video monitor.
