Pin Almost Anything to the Windows 7 Taskbar

Everyone digs the way you can pin stuff to the taskbar in Windows 7. It lets you open your most common programs without ever messing around in the Start menu, keeping everything right at your fingertips. But what if you want to pin other stuff -- Web pages, folders, even the Control Panel? Now you can.

Windows 7 Taskbar Items Pinner is a free program that lets you easily pin almost anything to the taskbar. It comes with a slew of options you can just check to add, or you can enter the complete path or URL for items not listed on the main screen. In this way you can pin Web pages, for example, that open with a single click.

I know a lot of people will find this program a godsend, but I should point out that you can get almost all of this with Windows 7 right out of the box. You can pin Web pages to the taskbar already, for example -- they just show up in the Jump List, which you can get by right-clicking your browser icon. And if you upgrade to Internet Explorer 9 -- which is a darned fine browser -- you needn't even mess with Jump Lists, since you can pin individual Web pages directly to the task bar, just like with this utility.

So Windows 7 Taskbar Items Pinner is kind of cool, but don't forget the power you've got with Windows 7 without downloading anything extra.
