Pimp "Candyman" sentenced to 17 yrs. for sex trafficking of a minor

(CBS/WGCL/AP) ATLANTA - Authorities say a pimp known as "Candyman" was sentenced Monday to more than 17 years in prison for charges related to sex trafficking of a minor.

CBS affiliate WGCL reports U.S. District Judge J. Owen Forrester also ordered Chesire Martinez Robinson to pay more than $14,000 in restitution for bringing a 16-year-old girl from South Carolina to the Atlanta area in 2009 and forced her to engage in prostitution.

Robinson, a 30-year-old felon, was convicted of the charges on Sept. 14, 2011 after three-day jury deliberation. According to reports, he placed photographs of the victim in escort and erotic services sections of internet websites, and recruited men to engage in commercial sex acts with her.

The Atlanta Journal Constitution reports that prosecutors say that over an eight-week period, Robinson made more than $14,000.

When the victim refused to be prostituted, Robinson beat her, prosecutors say. He was eventually caught in a sting, police say.
