Phila. teen pleads guilty in brick attack on Temple student

PHILADELPHIA - A teenage girl has pleaded guilty to assaulting a Temple University student with a brick last spring.

The Philadelphia Daily News reports that the 15-year-old pleaded guilty Tuesday to aggravated assault, conspiracy and possession of an instrument of crime in the March attack, which sent the victim to a hospital for emergency surgery.

A judge approved sending the cases of two co-defendants to Family Court, noting that they weren't accused of having used any weapons, but said charges against the 15-year-old as an adult was appropriate because her actions were more serious for surgery to save her teeth.

Authorities said the three had assaulted two other students before that attack.

The defendant is scheduled to be sentenced in December; her attorney didn't immediately return a message seeking comment.
