Phila. man, Thomas Coffee, charged with murder of Daniel Cooke, N.J. man who responded to Craigslist ad for ATV, police say
(CBS) PHILADELPHIA - Police said they arrested 23-year-old Thomas Coffee in connection with the shooting death of a 27-year-old New Jersey man who responded to Coffee's Craigslist ad, according to CBS Philly.
Authorities said they apprehended the suspect on Saturday and charged him with murder and other related offenses for the Friday evening shooting that left Daniel Cooke dead, reported the station.
"They had the house surrounded and then they kicked the door in and went in and pulled somebody out, handcuffed him and put him in a car," Coffee's neighbor, Ronald Dirocco told CBS Philly.
While police are still investigating the shooting, they said that Cooke drove to Philadelphia with two friends to look into buying an ATV that Coffee listed for sale on Craigslist.com, reported the station.
Coffee allegedly asked Cooke to walk with him alone to go see the ATV. Minutes later, Cooke's friends told police, they heard gunshots, said CBS Philly.
According to the station, when authorities arrived on the scene, they found Cooke dead with a bullet wound to his face.
CBS Philly said court documents stated that Coffee has gone to jail multiple times for robbery and related charges in the past.
