House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will travel to New York City Monday on the eve of the sixth anniversary of Sept. 11 to highlight a national security overhaul Congress approved earlier this year.
During her brief trip, the speaker will also discuss health concerns of the thousands of people who helped with the rescue and recovery efforts at Ground Zero.
She will receive a private briefing by New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg at City Hall and will then visit the site with New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer.
Pelosi will focus her remarks on legislation enacting the remaining recommendations of the Sept. 11 Commission that became law this summer after the Democratically controlled Congress approved it.
