Paula Abdul Returns: Did She Make the Right Moves?
NEW YORK (CBS) "Live to Dance" starring former "American Idol" judge Paula Abdul made a two-hour debut Tuesday night on CBS with dancers auditioning for a spot on the show.
The highlights included performances by several youngsters and several oldsters. On t he upper end of the age spectrum were hoofers Bev, 83, and Hap, 68, who made the semifinals and celebrated with onstage pushups and Bonnie, a 90-year-old tap dancer who did not make the cut.
At the other end was nine-year-old hip-hop dancer Jalen about whom Abdul said, "You have so much joy that comes out of that face of yours," and an 11-year-old dressed in feathers and rhinestones whom Abdul told," "I want to see less makeup on you."
Abdul, who is executive producer of the show was joined at the judge's table by Kimberly Wyatt of the Pussycat Dolls and the choreographer Travis Payne. During the season, 18 finalists will compete for $500,000.
In an interview earlier this week on CBS, Abdul said described herself as "a girl who has a lot of heart" and said she wanted "ability to motivate, and inspire people. "
