(CBS/AP) AURORA, Colo. - A Colorado pastor's mother and a suspect are dead after both were shot outside a suburban Denver church Sunday afternoon.

Police told CBS Denver that the shooting occurred after an argument broke out between people in the parking lot outside the Aurora church, just as services were ending. Police said the people were in two separate vehicles and one was chasing the other.

The man who was being chased reportedly got out of his vehicle and entered the New Destiny Christian Center, telling those inside to take cover.

Authorities say the woman was shot when she left the church to see what was happening in the parking lot. They say an off-duty officer was in the congregation and shot a suspect.

The woman who died was a nurse and the mother of Pastor Delano Strahan from the New Destiny Christian Center, reports CBS Denver. The off-duty police officer is Strahan's cousin.

Police say the suspect who was shot also died.
