Pants-stealing carjackers sought by Okla. police

Man, left, after his car - and his pants - were allegedly stolen by robbers in Tulsa, Okla. KOTV

(CBS) TULSA, Okla. - The hunt is on in Oklahoma for two robbers whose alleged M.O. is to steal their victim's pants along with cash and other valuables, CBS affiliate KOTV reports.

Police in Tulsa say a couple was at a gas station when two armed men approached them and demanded that they not only drop their pants, but take them off, too. The suspects reportedly stole money from the woman, took the man's pants and took off in the couple's decked-out Cadillac.

The car was later found on the Broken Arrow Expressway, the station reports.

Sgt. Brandon Watkins said this isn't the first robbery that involved stolen pants. Just two days earlier, the same thing happened at a nearby hotel.

"That says more about the robbers than it does the victims," Watkins said, according to the station. "I don't know why they would want to take their pants. That's kind of an odd M.O."

Detectives reportedly don't believe the jeans were an expensive brand, so they can only speculate as to why the crooks targeted them.

Whatever the reason, police say one thing is certain: keeping a pair of jeans is not worth getting killed over.

"You take your pants off," Watkins said.
